Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation can provide an effective solution to hair loss in ladies and gentlemen of all ages. We are able to offer advice following receipt of clear images showing your hair loss. In some instances, we may require you to attend a face to face consultation. It is uncommon for us to advise clients against micro pigmentation as a solution to their hair loss, but if we feel you will not achieve the results you desire then we will refuse treatment (for example, if a client has advanced thinning and wants to keep their hair at length meaning it will not look 100% natural in certain lighting).

"We offer a guaranteed, unparalleled, non-surgical solution to hair loss.  Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP tattoo of the hairline and scalp) is the number one solution to hair loss; an awe inspiring treatment that can transform the appearance of an individual."

Organic pigments are deposited during the hair tattoo into the dermis of the scalp to perfectly replicate the appearance of shaved hair.  Different to a hair transplant, micro scalp pigmentation is an affordable and realistic solution to male pattern baldness and alopecia in both genders, through which the appearance of a totally full and complete head of hair is achievable. Micro pigmentation involves no down time and there is very little pain involved. Any redness following the stubble tattoo procedure usually subsides within the first few hours, and most clients are surprised with how little they feel and how comfortable they are throughout their procedure.

In 2016, 36% of our clients were those who had decided upon scalp micropigmentation as the solution to their hair loss issues after previously undergoing surgical hair transplant procedures. Following their hair transplants, they found themselves disappointed with their results and still persistently worrying about thin hair. Micro pigmentation can provide an undetectable solution to hair loss for almost all men and women, and give you the full head of hair that the vast majority of surgical procedures cannot.

Whilst scalp micro pigmentation can work extremely well to add density to longer hair, our most common treatment is the shaved-head procedure. No matter how little hair you have remaining, it is usually safe to keep your hair between a completely bald, razored finish to around a grade-one length. What is also worth noting about the shaved look is that it is now an acceptable appearance in all social, business and professional working environments. The stigma and negativity attached to a shaved head is thankfully long gone and it now remains a fashionable and modern favourite.

Scalp Micropigmentation for scars

A common byproduct of hair transplants - scars can leave unsightly, pale, bald patches at the back and sides of one's head. Fortunately we now live in a time during which advancements in the technology and techniques surrounding micro pigmentation allow us to easily camouflage these scars to the point they are no longer visible. Whether strip scar from FUT or small dot-like scarring from FUE, these have long been a cause of embarrassment and self consciousness for many men until recently.

Scalp Micropigmentation for thinning hair

A hair tattoo can be a wonderful addition to a head of hair that has good coverage but poor density. Micropigmentation can add a base layer of colour to the scalp and alleviate the contrast of hair to skin. This provides the same level of coverage as hair thickening fibres, only this is hassle free once carried out and offers great longevity. Close up, the deposits of pigments look natural amongst your existing hair, resembling the look of the bases of real hair follicles. Not all hair loss sufferers are candidates for this form of SMP - you must have a reasonable amount of hair remaining and a slow or completely-halted pace of hair loss.

Scalp Micropigmentation for receding hairline

A micropigmentation procedure for a receding hairline can be a relatively straightforward and hassle-free way to turn back the clock. Simply extending the hairline further and adding some light scatterings of pigment across the rest of the scalp where needed can result in the illusion of a completely full head of hair. We can blend the follicle representations seamlessly with your remaining hair. You will be amazed with the results that a hair tattoo can achieve and virtually unable to distinguish between what is real hair and what is an impression of pigment.

Scalp Micropigmentation for women

It is not just men who suffer from hair loss. Statistics show that forty percent of women will suffer from visible hair loss by the time they are forty. Currently, twelve percent of women with hair loss seek restoration treatment (the figure for men that seek help is twenty percent). We anticipate that the percentage of the female population that looks to restore their hair density will slowly begin to increase as micropigmentation becomes a viable solution to conceal hair loss in females.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Scalp Micropigmentation cost?

The cost depends on your degree of hair loss. Please contact Clinic to book for a consultation

How long does a hair tattoo last?

You should expect the result to last at least five years. The pigment will fade slightly over the years and you may need an aftercare session once every few years to keep your result looking its best. Aftercare sessions at Revive are only a fraction of the procedure cost.

How can I look after my head following the procedure?

You shouldn't touch your head at all for the first few days. After this it is ok to wash your scalp (with water only). Once ten days has passed you can carry on your normal routine of shaving, moisturising etc. The most important thing to remember is to apply sunscreen whenever your head will be exposed to UV rays. Following your procedure you will receive extensive aftercare guidelines and we are always on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Does Scalp Micropigmentation look fake?

Our number one priority with any procedure is that the result looks natural and undetectable. We use microscopic needles which leave pigment deposits in the scalp the same diameter as hair follicles. The pigment will also be matched to your hair colour. The end results are truly undetectable.

What if I've got grey hair?

When shaved closely, all hair follicles appear a certain shade of grey whether your natural colour is red, brown, grey, black or blonde. We mix our specialist Scalp Pigmentation inks to the shade of grey that matches your hair.

Can I design my own hairline?

You can have full control over every aspect of your procedure. We work with our clients to achieve the look they have in mind. We will advise you at every step of the way and ensure you end up with the appearance you were hoping for that looks natural and genuine.

Can I go back to work after the treatment?

Yes, after the treatment you can go back the day after working *

The possible redness immediately after the treatment disappears after 6-12 hours.  No swelling is expected after a treatment

* If you do heavy physical work, it is best to take 3-4 days off because you can not sweat extra until 4 days after a treatment.

Do I have to take special precautions in sports or heavy activities

In principle not, only up to 7 days after the treatment should not be extra sweating.

Is the treatment painful?

A treatment is not extremely painful but is felt differently by each client. The upper head and the crown are less sensitive. At the hairline there are more nerves and often that is the most sensitive spot during a treatment. We use an anaesthetic cream if desired.
